XILO

This illustration is part of some studies I have been conducting on Brazilian artists. It was inspired by the woodcut work of the master J. Borges.

The illustration I created is simple: a vase of flowers with three crosses, symbolizing the crucifixion of Christ. The religious theme has always played a significant role in Brazilian culture, often approached in a dramatic manner. In my experiment, I aimed to create a delicate composition that referenced a moment that was indeed very difficult but also full of beauty and delicacy.

This illustration holds a special place in my heart because, when I shared it with my parents, who are simple people, I experienced an unexpected reaction. They were able to understand everything I had expressed through the art: the three crosses representing the crucifixion of Christ, but in a gentler and more delicate way. I achieved a level of understanding that is rarely reached in everyday conversations.

This warmed my heart
